Deliveroo launches Deliveroo Plus subscription service

Deliveroo, the online restaurant delivery service, has launched a subscription service aimed at regular users.

Deliveroo Plus allows customers to pay a monthly rate of £8.99 or £89 per year instead of a delivery fee on each order.

The service is initially only available to existing customers across Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Brighton and York from this week (19 January).

It comes after the meal delivery app secured a £210m investment last August to expand in to new markets and develop its RooBox concept, which allows restaurants to offer delivery-only kitchens in certain locations.

Dan Warne, UK & Ireland managing director at Deliveroo, said: “Ordering great food from great restaurants on Deliveroo is an increasingly big part of many people’s daily lives, and Deliveroo Plus is all about rewarding them.

"This new subscription service gives our customers an even better experience and even better value for money when they order with us.”

The company also branched out in to alcohol delivery last year in partnership with brands including BrewDog and Majestic Wines.

Deliveroo, which operates in 12 countries and employs more than 1,000 staff, saw overall orders grow 650 per cent in 2016.

The start-up was founded by William Shu and Greg Orlowski in 2013 and has its headquarters in London.
